VICTIM WITHOUT HARNESS

  • Move victim into position at bottom of stairs.

  • The top rescuer uses a piece of webbing to replace the missing harness:

  1. Take webbing and double into a bite

  2. Wrap it around the victims’ waist.

  3. Bring it under the arms and around to the back.

  4. Bring the free ends through the bite, forming a girth hitch on the victims’ back.

  5. The top firefighter grasps the webbing at the knot and wraps the excess around his hand. If there is too much excess it should be thrown over the victims’ shoulder to avoid stepping on it.

  • The move proceeds as with the 2 man harnessed rescue.
