This drill uses one man, with the victim head toward the window:
Rescuer:
-
Climb through window and over the downed firefighter to the bottom or leg end.
-
His first responsibility is to roll the victim on his back.
-
Reset PASS, check for air by cracking face piece seal.
-
Call mayday giving location, removal plan, and victim name.
-
Rescuer must now place the victim in a seated position; this can be accomplished by pulling the victims’ arms till the victim is up and in a seated position.
-
Moving victim to window:

-
Rescuer straddles the victim.
-
Grab the top of the SCBA straps near the mask bracket.
-
Lift and scoot the victim until his back and tank are against the wall.
-
Preparing to lift:

-
Bend over and grab victims’ legs at the knee.
-
Pull up till legs are bent all the way in.
-
Pin one foot with rescuers’ foot. (it doesn’t matter which foot)
-
Place the rescuers other foot in the victims’ crotch.
-
Bend over and tighten the victims’ harness straps.
-
Grab the victims’ SCBA straps at the top near the mask bracket.
-
The lift:

-
Rock back using the rescuers’ weight to help pull the victim off the floor.
-
The victim will pivot on the pinned foot.
-
As the victim reaches the top of the lift, step in with your non-pining foot and drive the victim back to the windowsill.
-
Keep the rescuers leg between the victims’ legs as you move them toward the window. If the victim doesn’t make it all the way to the sill the rescuers knee will stop the victim from falling all the way to the ground.
-
R 2 holds victim.
-
R 1 bends down into the wheelbarrow position to lift the victims’ legs
-
The command is given, R 1 and R 2 move together to complete the move.
-
R 1 lifts the victims’ legs and R 2 pulls the victim onto the ladder.
